For those unexpected circumstances, CRC provides short-term disability coverage at no cost to you. You can also buy long-term disability coverage at group rates.

who's eligible

  • All regular, full-time, non-union hourly or salaried employees regularly scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week.
  • Union-represented employees are eligible if provided for in the collective bargaining agreement.

short-term disability

Short-Term Disability (STD) insurance provides financial protection if you are unable to work because of a short-term illness or injury.

Plan Features

When Coverage Begins

You are automatically covered beginning on your date of hire. CRC pays the full cost of your coverage.  

Waiting Period

Benefits generally begin on the fifth day of an illness or injury.

Benefit Amount

50% or 100% of your monthly base pay, based on your length of service:

Your STD benefit will be reduced by any disability income you may receive from other sources such as Workers’ Compensation, Social Security or any company-sponsored or government-sponsored disability program.

long-term disability

Long-Term Disability (LTD) insurance provides continuing income if a prolonged illness or injury prevents you from working. You pay the full cost of LTD coverage.  LTD benefits are administered by Prudential.

Plan Features

Waiting Period

  • Benefits generally begin after a 26-week waiting period (the maximum Short-Term Disability benefit period).
  • Generally, you are not eligible for LTD benefits for a disability that begins within 12 months of your coverage effective date and is due to a pre-existing condition.

Coverage Options

You have two coverage options:

  • 50% Option — Benefit equal to 50% of your base pay. 
  • 60% Option — Benefit equal to 60% of your base pay.

If you die while receiving LTD benefits, both options provide a lump-sum survivor benefit equal to six months of your gross LTD benefit.

Your LTD benefit will be reduced by any disability income you may receive from other sources such as Workers’ Compensation, Social Security or any company-sponsored or government-sponsored disability program.

Maximum Benefit

$15,000 per month

Enrollment

  • If you enroll within 31 days of your date of hire or eligibility:
    • Proof of good health is not required. *
    • Coverage begins on date of initial eligibility.
  • If you enroll later than 31 days of the date you first become eligible:
    • You must wait until the next Open Enrollment period to elect coverage.
    • You must provide proof of good health at your own cost.*

Benefit Duration

If you remain disabled under the terms of the LTD plan, benefits are generally payable until age 65, when you may be eligible to retire.
